Start with Airalo if documented access to Gmail and WhatsApp is your main buying question. Compare Saily if you already like its setup or want to investigate its separate phone service, and Yesim if data sharing is central to your choice. Then compare the exact China plans for your trip. This is a comparison of documented features and buying conditions, not a speed test or a promise that one brand works best everywhere.

Ten-day China plan comparison
Compare one China unlimited-data eSIM for ten days, without a calling add-on or a multi-eSIM discount. These are displayed package totals, not a daily starting price. The unlimited labels do not establish equal full-speed allowances.
Prices as listed by each provider on 2026-10-29 (provider-stated)
| Provider | Ten-day total | Data | Hotspot | Activation | Calls and SMS |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Airalo | USD 35.00 | Unlimited; full-speed allowance not listed | not listed | not listed | Data only; no ordinary calls or SMS |
| Saily | USD 35.99 | Unlimited: 5 GB/day without a speed limit, then up to 1 Mbps | not listed | Automatic on arrival; activate within 180 days or automatic activation | Separate calling/text plan; not included by this data purchase |
| Yesim | USD 37.36 | Unlimited; subject to the network operator’s fair-use policy | Available | Activate within 90 days; validity starts on a compatible network | Data only; calls offered as a separate add-on |
Every cell uses that provider’s China product page, read on 2026-10-29: Airalo — www.airalo.com/china-esim; Saily — saily.com/esim-china/; Yesim — yesim.app/country/china/. The existing product-page links in the sections below open those sources. “not listed” means the detail was not displayed in the reviewed ten-day offer, rather than a claim that the feature is unavailable. Prices can vary with currency, promotion and purchase conditions; compare the final order total.
Which difference should decide the purchase?
Decide first whether you need mobile data, an ordinary phone service, or both. A mobile-data plan is not the same purchase as a plan with calling and text messaging. Keeping a home line available also does not turn a separate travel-data package into that home number.
| Provider | A concrete reason to open its China offer | What must be settled before buying |
|---|---|---|
| Airalo | Its China help explains overseas-app access through its roaming-data routing | The selected package's service type, device support and validity trigger |
| Saily | Its China page provides setup instructions and distinguishes data from additional phone service | Install before traveling; establish what is included in the actual order |
| Yesim | Its China page identifies the plan as data only and lists hotspot support | Match the allowance and validity to the trip; read the fair-use conditions |
If you have not chosen between travel eSIM, local SIM and home-carrier roaming, use the connection-type comparison first. This article starts after you have decided to compare travel eSIM products.
When is Airalo the sensible starting point?
Start with Airalo when the ability to reach your email and overseas contacts is the question you need answered. Airalo says its China eSIM uses international roaming data routing through gateways outside mainland China, providing access to services such as Gmail, Google and WhatsApp without a separate VPN while you use that eSIM's mobile data. This routing does not apply to hotel Wi-Fi.
That is a documented feature to weigh, rather than a reason to call Airalo the fastest. Open the China plan page, choose a package and read its installation and activation instructions. Do not assume the shortest plan is the best value if it would expire before the end of your trip.
An Airalo plan labeled Data Only does not include ordinary calls or SMS. For calls and texts, check whether the selected plan is labeled Data, Voice & Text.
Choose the service you need, not just the brand name. For a trip that also includes Hong Kong or another destination, inspect the selected plan's destination list instead of treating China as proof of coverage for the whole itinerary.
What should make me consider Saily?
Consider Saily if you want to use its setup and the selected package fits your trip. Saily's China page warns that access to its app may be limited in China and recommends setting up the eSIM before traveling.
That warning changes the purchase sequence: buy, install and save the instructions while you still have a dependable connection. Do not make the arrivals hall your first attempt to download the app and understand the order.
Saily's China page describes calling and SMS with a separate phone number and an appropriate calling or text plan. A data-plan purchase alone does not establish that those services are included.
If calling is your reason to choose Saily, establish the number's country, supported calls, text-message use and charges for the actual add-on. The product description does not establish that you will receive a mainland Chinese number or that a particular Chinese booking service will accept it.
Start at the Saily China page. For heavy hotspot use, read its consumer terms: Saily's unlimited-plan terms restrict heavy usage and high-volume tethering, and provide for reduced speeds after the applicable full-speed allocation. An unlimited label is not an unlimited-speed promise.
When does Yesim belong on the shortlist?
Put Yesim on the shortlist when you want to compare a data plan with stated hotspot support. Yesim's China page labels the plan Data only, lists hotspot as available and says speed may be limited under the network operator's fair-use policy.
Open the Yesim China offer and compare the allowance for your dates with the other candidates. Hotspot availability is useful if you plan to connect another device. It does not establish that one phone should be the entire group's only way to retrieve bookings or make contact.
For an unlimited option, read the speed conditions before treating it as a substitute for a working connection for large uploads. For an ordinary sightseeing trip, choose around maps, messaging and the data you expect to use rather than buying the largest plan automatically.
What should I do before checkout?
Confirm the exact phone model and purchase market on the provider's compatibility guidance. To use another carrier while traveling, an iPhone needs to be unlocked. Check Settings → General → About → Carrier Lock; No SIM Restrictions indicates an unlocked iPhone.
Then compare the trip's covered destinations, allowance, validity trigger, hotspot conditions and refund conditions on the selected offers. Record the total for a plan that covers the trip; an entry price for a different allowance or duration is not a like-for-like comparison.
Choose Airalo for the documented routing reason if that is decisive, Saily when its package and setup fit, or Yesim when its data-and-hotspot offer is the better match. Save installation instructions offline and keep your home line's roaming settings separate from the travel-data line.
