Shenzhen During APEC 2026 (16–20 November): Venues, Traffic Measures and Where to Stay

Shenzhen hosts the APEC 2026 meetings in mid-November. The Leaders' Meeting week brings a business summit, temporary traffic measures and busier hotels in Nanshan, Shekou and Bao'an. This page sets out what the organisers and the city government have announced, which venue is which, and how to choose an area to stay if you are visiting that week for something else.

What is happening, and where

The fourth ABAC meeting of the year is held in Shenzhen from 14 to 16 November 2026. The organisers of the CEO Summit said on 30 October that they expect more than 2,000 participants including media, from all 21 APEC economies.

Three venues people mix up

Shenzhen has three large venues with similar English names, and only one of them has been named by the organisers for an APEC 2026 event so far:

• Shenzhen International Exchange Center (深圳国际交流中心), on the north side of Xiangmi Lake in Futian. It hosted an APEC ministerial meeting in July 2026 and is widely reported as the main venue for the Leaders' Meeting, but the official announcement we checked names only the city.
• Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center (深圳会展中心), in the Futian CBD next to Convention & Exhibition Center metro station. It is a trade-fair venue and has not been named as an APEC venue.
• Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center (深圳国际会展中心), in Bao'an near the airport. It is also a trade-fair venue and has not been named as an APEC venue.

The CEO Summit itself is in Qianhai, at the Qianhai International Convention Center.

Traffic and transport measures announced so far

At a press conference on 15 October, the city government set out a package of measures for the meeting period:

• Shenzhen said temporary traffic controls by area, time and road section would be announced in stages from late October to early November 2026. These can include one-way traffic or temporary closures on main roads, viaducts and tunnels.
• Shenzhen announced half-price metro and bus fares during the meeting period. The exact start and end dates had not been published when we checked.
• Some metro lines will run more often, and the city is adding feeder bus routes to metro stations.
• Shenzhen encouraged employers to offer flexible working arrangements from 16 to 20 November 2026, and residents have been asked to leave their cars at home that week.
• Taxi and ride-hailing services are adding foreign-language support.

Road-by-road notices had not been published as of 2026-10-31. When they appear, they are posted on the Shenzhen Traffic Police notices page (linked below). Plan on the metro for anything time-sensitive.

Where to stay that week

If you are a registered CEO Summit delegate

Use the organisers' hotel arrangements first. The CEO Summit organisers list designated hotels including Hilton Shenzhen Shekou Nanhai, JW Marriott Hotel Shenzhen Bao'an, MGM Shenzhen Prince Bay, The Aden Hotel Shenzhen Nanshan and DoubleTree by Hilton Shenzhen Nanshan Hotel & Residences, with priority for delegates and accompanying persons. Free shuttles from the airport, Shenzhen North Station, Shekou Cruise Homeport and Huanggang Port to the designated hotels are arranged by the CEO Summit organisers. If you are in Shenzhen on business near Qianhai or Nanshan

A hotel next to a metro station matters more than a short drive.

If it is your first visit and you mainly want sightseeing and shopping

Futian CBD and Huaqiangbei sit on several metro lines, with the electronics markets, Lianhuashan Park and the Shenzhen Civic Center close by. They are also some distance from the CEO Summit in Qianhai, which may help on the busiest days. Note that Xiangmi Lake, where the Exchange Center is, is also in Futian.

If you are coming from Hong Kong

If the Leaders' Meeting days bring road closures, being able to walk to the border and the metro is useful.

Booking tips for a big-event week

• Pick a room you can cancel for free. Road notices are still coming, and plans may change.
• Check the booking page, not old prices. Rates and availability that week change quickly, so check them for your dates.
• Have your passport ready at check-in. Hotels in China must register foreign guests. The NIA says hotels are responsible for registering foreign guests' accommodation and submitting the information to local public security authorities.
• If you are unsure about a hotel, message it before you book. A 2024 notice from seven Chinese ministries says local authorities and booking platforms should not use qualification requirements to stop hotels from hosting foreign guests.
