Foreign passport holders book Shanghai Disneyland tickets under the same real-name rules as everyone else: each guest needs their own ID number on the ticket, and that same original document has to be at the gate. Prices move by date on a six-tier ladder published by the resort; buy on official channels or a listed travel partner, then plan a hotel night that keeps the Line 11 Disney station an easy ride.

What you need at purchase and at the gate
Under this policy, each guest will be required to use their own valid identification document to book tickets, with one ID allowing the purchase of only one ticket for the same date of visit. When purchasing a ticket, guests are required to provide the number of their valid ID. Upon entering Shanghai Disneyland, each guest must present the original physical copy of the valid ID used at the time of ticket purchase.
For most international visitors that document is a valid foreign passport. Type the passport number exactly as printed; once submitted, ID details on a ticket are not meant to be edited on a whim. Bring the physical passport you used at checkout — phone photos and photocopies are not a substitute at the turnstile. Dual nationals should book with the passport they will carry on park day.
Guests under sixteen must be accompanied by someone aged sixteen or older. Family groups can still be booked in one order, but each ticket line needs that guest's own ID number.
How much a one-day ticket costs
Date-based pricing is the rule. Shanghai municipal English coverage of the resort notice lists the current adult ladder as follows:
The six tiers of the pricing structure will be 475 yuan, 539 yuan, 599 yuan, 659 yuan, 719 yuan, and 799 yuan.
The calendar on the official site (or app) shows which tier applies to your date. Child and senior preferential tickets still exist; age bands for children are stated with the real-name rules:
Children aged three to 11 years old, inclusive, on their visit day are eligible for a child ticket. Children under three years old on their visit day can receive free park admission.
Two-day tickets and annual passes are separate products on the same storefront. Premier Access and other add-ons are sold after you already hold park admission, through the resort's own direct channels.
Where foreigners should buy
Stick to the resort's direct channels or a company on its published official travel-partner list. Direct options include the English website and app, the official WeChat account, the Disney Reservation Center phone line, and the resort's official stores on major Chinese platforms. Third-party listings that are not on that partner list are the usual source of denied entry stories travellers swap on Rednote.
Payment: foreign cards sometimes fail on Chinese platform checkouts. The English website and the Reservation Center are the safer first try if your bank declines WeChat or Alipay. Keep the confirmation email and the passport you typed; you will need both at the gate.
Refund and date-change rules sit on the product page for the ticket you buy — read them before you pay, especially inside peak holiday weeks.
Getting there and where to sleep
Shanghai Metro Line 11 stops at Disney Resort. From central hotels near Nanjing Road East or People's Square, budget a long ride plus a buffer before park open. Guide: where to stay in Shanghai.
If you want a shorter morning, sleep closer to the resort or on Line 11 and keep the city sightseeing for the night before or after. Compare rooms once your ticket date is locked.

Arrival day checklist
- Passport (original) matching the number on each ticket.
- Booking confirmation on your phone, offline screenshot as backup.
- eSIM or roaming already working so maps load in the taxi queue: China eSIM comparison.
- Metro payment ready — see China metro tickets and payments.
- If you entered China on a short transit stay, confirm the park day still sits inside your permitted areas and dates: 240-hour China transit itinerary.
Before you buy
- Recheck the rolling price calendar for your exact date on an official channel.
- Match every ticket line to the passport that guest will carry.
- Avoid grey-market resellers that ask you to "change the name later".
- Build travel time from your hotel to Line 11 Disney Resort station into the morning plan.
Park hours, ride closures and temporary ferry/shuttle notices change on the resort site — skim the homepage alerts the night before you go.
